What do you want to feel or achieve this sumer?

Wow, I hope you managed to stay cool this week! πŸ₯΅ That was some crazy heat. In Boston, we broke a 100-year record on Wednesday for the hottest day. Thank goodness for A/C!

In all this heat, you might have missed Summer Solstice on Thursday. It was the longest day of the year and the official beginning of summer.

Solstice is the perfect time to set an intention for this summer.

I invite you to choose one word to guide you through these warm and sunny months.

Here are some words that might resonate with you: growth, joy, gratitude, or adventure. Or maybe something entirely different ...

My word for this summer is exploration. I want to meet new people, try new activities, and visit new places.

What's the point of choosing a word?

Choosing a word for the summer helps you focus on what you want to achieve or feel.

It's like having a theme or a guiding light for your summer. It will help you say yes to activities supporting your chosen word and - just as important - say no to things that don't resonate.

Pick a word that makes you smile and feel excited about for the months ahead.

Once you've chosen your word, it's important to stay focused on it. Here are some easy ways to remind yourself of your intention:

  • Post your word on the fridge or bathroom mirror
  • Take a screenshot of your word and turn it into your phone's wallpaper
  • Set a daily reminder of your word on your phone
  • Write your word with colorful markers on a card and put it in a picture frame
  • Say your word aloud; maybe share it with a loved one.

Do you want to share your chosen word with me? Drop me an email. I am here to cheer you on.

Happy Summer Solstice, and let’s make this summer one to remember!

Have a great week!

Christine

Hi, today is the fourth and final part of my four-part series of tips for specific yoga poses. You requested today's pose tutorial: Pigeon Pose. Are your hips and lower back tight from sitting too much? You might want to try Pigeon Pose, a deep hip-opening yoga stretch. Pigeon Pose is one of those love-it-or-hate-it yoga poses because of the intensity of sensations that it can evoke. Be sure to do some warmups before you move into this pose, and don't go beyond your body's ability. You want...

Hi, I want to share part three of my four-part series of tips for specific yoga poses. Today's focus is on Baby Cobra Pose, also called Low Cobra. It's an excellent pose for strengthening your back muscles and stretching the front of your body. In this pose, you gently arch your spine backward. If you want to get technical, this kind of movement is called a spinal extension. Moving your spine in this direction helps to counteract all the forward motion and more rounded shapes you make...

Guide to breath techniques to reduce stress

Hi there, I hope you had a good week despite the political turmoil in our country. I'm not going into politics in this email. But whatever your political leanings, this was a crazy, tumultuous week. It wouldn't surprise me if your thoughts are racing or you're having trouble sleeping. Let me introduce you to a secret weapon: alternate nostril breathing. Alternate nostril breathing is an easy (and ancient) yogic breath technique for managing stress. If you do it regularly, it helps you relax...
